Ghaem Superspecialty Hospital

Introduction

Maternity unit (Narges) is a beautiful one, which can create the most memorable moments for those who are admitted. It is located at the west wing of Ghaem International Hospital on the 1st floor across from the operating room and right next to the ICU; thus, reaching these two units is a matter of a few seconds.

The unit consists of the following:

  • Examination room for women, who are due to give birth is located at the entrance of the unit and includes a modern gynecology bed, a bed for admitting pregnant women, which is equipped with fetal monitoring of single babies or twins.
  • Five admission rooms each of which having two modern fully automatic electro-hydraulic beds that can be regulated by the patient herself, a bathroom, LCD TV, a refrigerator, an air conditioner, two beds for patient companions, nurse call system and central oxygen and suction.
  • Pre-delivery prep room for admitting and preparing patients who are candidates for C-section and D &C.
  • A VIP room with all the necessary facilities for the well-being of the patient and her companions.
  • Childbirth education classes are held by a holder midwife at the Polyclinic unit. By having a health certificate from an OB & GYN, all pregnant women in their 2nd trimester (week 20th) can attend these classes.
  • A delivery room equipped with all the requirements for a natural, safe and painless childbirth. The equipment in this room include facilities for Water Birth, exclusive bathrooms, an electro-hydraulic bed, an advanced labor bed, a cot with automatic warmer and advanced settings, a portable suction, a central oxygen and suction device, ventouse, anesthesia machine and all the necessary facilities for reviving a newborn.

Due to the unit’s well-known infertility subspecialists from both Gilan province and nationwide, beds are fully occupied most of the times. Also, since hospital’s directors are advocates of natural childbirth, it is equipped with many facilities for promoting this method of delivery and due to the fact that all painless delivery methods such as Entonox (CO2), epidural, water birth, etc are applied in this hospital, pregnant women have welcomed being admitted in this unit and have used natural painless delivery methods to give birth. This is one of the strategies of the hospital’s management to support major policies of the Ministry of Health and Treatment in advocating natural childbirth compared with C-section.
